INTRODUCTION & HISTORY 1988-2008

Trezza Partners is a standardbred racehorse partnership formed by Tom Trezza Jr. in November 1988 (Salerno-Trezza Partners), to expand ownership of one or more horses among multiple partners to try and race at the Meadowlands Racetrack.

Originally formed as a claiming/condition partnership that raced primarily at the Meadowlands Racetrack, the partnership raised $100,000 in late 1988 to purchase 3 claiming/condition racehorses that were currently racing and competing at the Meadowlands. This original partnership lasted until December 1992.

In the fall of 1990, the partnership began it’s transition of claiming/condition racehorses to purchasing and developing yearlings, with the goal of racing in the New Jersey Sire Stakes and other stakes events. In October 1991, we made our first purchase of a yearling. By the end of 1992, the partnership was transformed into a yearling partnership.

In November of 1992, we purchased 2 yearlings, followed by purchases of 1 yearling in 1993, 3 yearlings in 1994, 3 yearlings in 1995, 2 yearlings in 1996, 2 yearlings in 1997, 2 yearlings in 1998, 3 yearling in 1999, 2 yearlings in 2000, 2 yearlings in 2001 and 2 yearlings in 2002.

Our purchases have always consisted of New Jersey sired yearlings, usually in the $10-$20,000 range. All of our yearling purchases have made it to the races, usually at 2 and all except one have won and taken a record. We have competed in many stakes races and did make the finals of the $500,000 New Jersey Classic in 1996 (Beach ST Partners) in 1999 (Shark ST Partners) and again in 2001 (Jazzz ST Partners & Card ST Partners). Our top stakes and condition winners included CC Laag, Flaming Scooter, Mean ST Partners, Cam ST Partners, & Sports Cam. During the end of the 1998 Meadowlands racing season, we again entered the claiming/condition game with Partnership #21 & Partnership #24.

In April 1999-we formed our 3rd claiming/condition partnership-Partnership #25-with the private purchase of 3 yr. Carlspur from
Canada. We're currently still racing Carlspur in 2007, who has earned almost $900,000 and was feature in the February issue of Hoof Beats (click here) with 1.48 mile record performance at the Meadowlands on Hamblontain day-on August 2005. He's was sidelined from November 2006 due to colic surgery-but returned to the track in June 2007 and now was officially retirement at Freehold Raceway on Feb. 16th-2008 with earning of over $910,000 lifetime.

From 2003-to 2004 we sold all our yearlings, 2 & 3 yr. old colts to concentrate on older racehorses. Our partnerships are now based on purchasing 1 currently racing claiming or condition horse every year, usually racing at the Meadowlands in the $30k-to-$60k range. We formed Trezza Partners #34 in January-2004 with the purchase of 4 yr. Oragami Artist, formed Trezza Partners #35 in January 2005, formed Trezza Partners #36 in January 2006 & recently formed Trezza Partners #37 in January 2007, Trezza Partners #38 in June 2008 & Trezza Partners #39 in June 2009

Currently we have 5 separate partnerships racing and working to develop our 6th partnership under:

Trezza Partners #34 (Tiny's Million-6 yr. gelding)
Trezza Partners #35 (Tammibest 5 yr. mare)
Trezza Partners #36 (Four Starz Affair 5 yr. old gelding)
Trezza Partners #37 (Kathryn Dancer A-10 yr. old gelding)
Trezza Partners #39 (John Adams-8 yr. old gelding)

In 2008-we formed Trezza Partners #38 (Yankee Lance-who was claimed for $40,000 at the Meadowlands on Aug. 4th-but unfortunately he had to be put down when he had a major intestines problem in late August). We do race in claiming races-so these horses can and will change from time to time.

Our goal will be to add 1-2 new partnerships each year to race and compete at the high claiming and condition races at The Meadowlands.

Our next planned partnership being developed for the Winter meet at The Meadowlands in early 2010 (see information under Partnership Opportunities). All of our current and future partnerships will be based on an exclusive-no bills (training and racing) concept and usually a 50-50% split with our trainers-either the Salerno Stables who we've worked with for over 20 years or with Anna Glide and Nick Surick.
